Hockey teams Covid and rules

A number of players and clubs have asked about guidelines around the impact on team numbers in the event of Covid infections/close contact rules.

Rule 6 of the competition rules, show the normal guidelines around use of fill-in players.

In the current situation around Sydney, Covid infections and deemed close contacts status can happen very quickly with immediate Health regulations requiring different periods of isolation etc

Instances like this could make it difficult for teams to comply with Rule 6.

There will be some flexibility applied.

  • Ideally Clubs need to write me an email if there is a known situation prior to the matches where you believe Rule 6 cannot be complied with.
  • More immediate occurrences – I still need to be informed no later than when match cards are uploaded to RevSport.

Sydney Hockey would not expect any leniency applied to be gamed.

It is in everyone’s interest to continue to follow safe distancing guidelines and handwashing practices as we look forward to a full season of Hockey

Please make know to your players/managers Sydney Hockey’s approach to this issue
